SRS 2024 Douglas C. Burton Award Winner | Drs. Lenke, Sardar, and Hogue
Congratulations to the 2024 recipient of the Douglas C. Burton Best Adult Spine Deformity Article Award, published in the Spine Deformity Journal! Join our host, Dr. Grant Hogue, as he discusses the winning study, titled "Knee flexion compensation in postoperative adult spinal deformity patients: implications for sagittal balance and clinical outcomes," with two of the article authors, Dr. Lawrence G. Lenke and Dr. Zeeshan Sardar. This study focused on patients with adult spinal deformity (ASD) and aimed to determine if people who rely on bending their knees (knee flexion) to achieve good posture after spine surgery have worse outcomes compared to those who achieve good alignment without knee flexion. This outstanding work will be honored at the Scoliosis Research Society Annual Meeting, taking place September 16–20, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA.
